Frya - Milestones & Progress:
2020: Land secured at Frya Industry Park at the border of the municipalities of Ringebu and Sør-Fron.
2021: Agreement with the municipality of Ringebu for supply of water to our production facility, by utilizing the municipality’s perpetual license (from NVE) for groundwater extraction.
2022: Application for the aquaculture license for Frya was filed and submitted February 4th.
2023: Necessary permits and licenses to operate granted 20 June 2023
2024-25: Project planning
2026: Ground work and build out
2028: First fish to market
Oppdal - Milestones & Progress:
2016: Land secured in Drivdalen with very supportive landowners, in the municipality of Oppdal.
2017: MNOK 1 received from Oppdal Municipality to support our groundwater extraction testing
2018: Broodstock program 100% owned by Driva Aquaculture in operation at Nofima R&D facility at Sunndalsøra
2019: Regulation plan for our Oppdal plant approved by Oppdal municipality
2019: Perpetual license granted by NVE (regulatory authority) for groundwater extraction/water intake wells
2020: Driva Aquaculture and AquaMaof enter a strategic partnership. AquaMaof will invest and become a partner in Driva Aquaculture
2020: After nearly 4 years of planning, preparation and hard work, the application for aquaculture license was filed and submitted on January 17th. The regulated processing time of such an application is 22 weeks.
2020-2024: Aquaculture license has been under processing since January 2020
2024: The application process has been concluded as current Norwegian laws and regulations are not aligned with best available technology, making approval unattainable at this time. The project is put on hold until the necessary regulatory conditions are in place.
